Just over 50% of Americans and Aussies have listened to podcasts. And in the UK, 6 million people tune in weekly. The reasons for their popularity are clear. But with 700,000 podcasts (and counting) and almost 30 million episodes to choose from, where do you start?!
It’s our job (and passion) to keep a finger on the HR/Recruitment pulse. So we thought we’d share some of our favourite industry-related podcasts with you. You’re welcome 😉
1. Recruiting Brainfood hosted by Hung Lee
Everyone loves Hung’s weekly newsletter wrap-up, so you obviously must check out his podcast too. Based on what’s been called “the newsletter of all newsletters”, the Recruiting Brainfood podcast covers everything you need to know about the week ahead (with a quick recap from the previous week too).
2. The HR Social Hour hosted by Jon Thurmond and Wendy Daily
Jon and Wendy are a delight to listen to each week, as they interview American industry insiders about a variety of subjects like connecting, giving back, and building your network. Their #HRSocialHour monthly Twitter discussion is also worth looking at – it’s both entertaining and informative, with interesting question and answer sessions.
3. 21st Century HR hosted by Lars Schmidt
Lars has a friendly, informative, and down–to–earth way of chatting to a great variety of guests. He interviews Chief Heart Officers, explores culture hacking and questions the modern recruiting process. His short interviews make 21st Century HR a great source to get your fill of the latest trends in HR and leadership.
4. Drive Thru HR hosted by Mike VanDervort, Robin Schooling, Crystal Miller Lay and Dwayne Lay
Exciting conversations on HR tech, recruiting, talent management, employee engagement, and culture. There are hundreds of episodes to choose from, with two new shows being recorded weekly – each about half an hour long. Attracting and managing talent is a recurring theme, as is HR tech and the future of HR skills.
5. HR Examiner Radio Hour hosted by John Sumser
John interviews leading academics, authors, and strategists to get their take on the industry, where we are heading and how we’re going to get there. The show’s HR Tech Weekly segment is especially poignant, keeping us up to date with the world of technology and its effect on HR.
6. Hiring Success hosted by SmartRecruiters
It’s early days for the SmartRecruiters podcast, but we love the first few episodes, and if it ends up being half as good as the rest of their content, we know we’ll be tuning in regularly. The podcast follows big companies as they turn “big ideas like AI, Recruitment Marketing and Data Mining into real results for their hiring teams.”
7. Chad and Cheese hosted by Chad Sowash and Joel Cheesman
These guys bring a different sound to the world of HR podcasts. Hosts Sowash and Cheesman are ‘here to punch the recruiting industry right where it hurts’ as they put it themselves. They don’t shy away from asking difficult questions or sharing their controversial opinion while putting on a great show.
8. The Future of Work hosted by Jacob Morgan
Jacob has in-depth discussions with senior executives and business leaders around the world on the future of work. Each episode explores a new topic and answers questions like why and how work is changing and how you can change with it.
We’ll continually update this list, so if you have any suggestions, please share them with us below, and we’ll start listening!
